Stop Monkeying Around

We really start getting silly this time of year. Probably from the lack of sleep and the overindulgence of sugar! Anyway as a result of all our giddiness we came up with a really fun new quilt - Monkey in the Middle.
We have been getting rave reviews - it even got published in the Winter edition of Quilt Trends (we also made the cover with another design - brag, brag)

Before we all drop into sugar comas, we wanted to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year.

Our store will be closed from 3pm on 12/23 through 12/26 and again from 12/31 through 1/2. We'll be thinking up some great new products to start off the New Year!

Our new class schedule is out so be sure to register for any class you'd like to take.

Start off the New Year Right

For fun we decided to see what our Numerology for our birth dates were. See we're not just your average Quilt Store, we are very deep and intellectual ;). It was a lot of fun and this site gives a huge amount of info, including how old you are down to the second.

We discovered that 2012 is a '5' year. Which means change and surprise! Never one to miss an opportunity, Cathy has created a $5 Block of the Month that begins in January. It will run for 9 months. Obviously the $5 cost is a nod toward the '5' year; the change and surprise is if you bring your completed block the following month then that month is FREE (you get to keep your change - SURPRISE!)

This BOM is designed as an educational quilt for those who wish to come to a demonstration once a month for 9 months while making a gorgeous 90 x 90 quilt. Each month a block and technique will be introduced. For $5 you receive the instruction and fabric. Sew the block at home, bring it back the next month completed, stay for the demonstration and that month is FREE!

At the end of the 9 months you can buy a setting packet and a border packet to create the 90 x 90 quilt. You can come to all 9, just 1 or anything in between. If you miss a month you can start again with the next month. You will have 2 color options, traditional or batik.

Below are some of the blocks you'll be doing. They are done in the 'traditional' fabric.

12 Days of Christmas

There is lots of debate over when the actual 12 days of Christmas begins - is it today and ends on 12/24? Is it tomorrow and ends on 12/25? Or does it begin on 12/26 like the Scots believe? Well whenever it is - it is a time to celebrate.

Here is a Quilter Version (we apologize in advance if the tune get stuck in your head):

On the 1st day of Christmas my true love gave to me a paper pieced pattern of a tree

On the 4th day of Christmas my true love gave to me four ironing boards

On the 5th day of Christmas my true love gave to me five rotary blades

On the 6th day of Christmas my true love gave to me six pairs of scissors

On the 7th day of Christmas my true love gave to me seven yards of batting

On the 8th day of Christmas my true love gave to me eight sewing needles

On the 9th day of Christmas my true love gave to me nine yards of Moda

On the 10th day of Christmas my true love gave to me ten types of ruler

Up on the Rooftop

No, that doesn't mean the staff of QB are up on the roof throwing empty bobbin spools at passing cars! It means Sue has once again worked her magic and the store is transforming into a Winter Wonderland. Our theme this year for our Holiday Open House is Up on the Rooftop.

Our Holiday Open House begins Friday 12/2 and goes through Sunday 12/4. Cathy has the food ordered, Allan is polishing up the Janome's and Handi Quilters, Raffles of $100, $50, and $25 are being prepped, PLUS HQ demo's are scheduled for the weekend. And that's not all - you can save 25% off all fabric cut from the bolt; 25% off all books and notions; special pricing on Janome and HQ systems; Blue Light Specials and much more!

We will have our Glacier Star students displaying their gorgeous Glacier Star creations.

A little bragging - here is the cover of the latest Fabric Trends (now Quilt Trends) magazine. That is our All Dressed Up Duvet in Joel Dewberrys Avairy II fabrics.
We look forward to seeing you this Friday!

Thanksgiving at the Quilt Basket

If the only prayer you said in your whole life was, "thank you," that would suffice.
~Meister Eckhart

We are so thankful for so much this year; new beginnings, peaceful endings and everyday life in between. We will be closed on 11/24 to celebrate with our families, but will be open regular hours 10-5 on Friday. In the spirit of Black Friday, save 10% off any fabric cut from the bolt on 11/25. Just mention you saw it in the blog and the savings is yours!

Our Holiday Open House is 12/2-12/4, be sure to mark your calendars. You can get last minute gift ideas, special pricing on demo machines, savings on fabrics, food to enjoy and much, much more. PLUS you can enjoy Sue's decorating for this year's theme - Up on the Rooftop.
We are VERY EXCITED to announce that Sue's design - All Dressed Up - has been chosen for the cover of Quilt Trends December magazine. The magazine will be out in two weeks. This is the first time we are on the cover - whoo hoo!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
