Star Wars and Alligators

This is me with my Star Wars friends at Quilt Market in Kansas City last weekend.  I waited on a long line for this picture for my Star Wars Obsessed niece! The Star Wars fabric will be coming in to the shop very soon.

Sue and I found a lot of great patterns and fabrics at market.  Some are in the shop now, and more will come in over the next few weeks.

This month's Strip Club Quilt was the Scrap Basket Trellis.  Elaine made this great sample for us out of Northcott Stonehenge Stone Chips- 5" squares.  The pattern is also available on our website.  Click the link.

A Busy Week!

Monday was National Apron Day.  We hope you wore your apron all day long!

We are up to the fifth block of our $5 block of the month.

Watch a tutorial here in two parts.

Part1
Part 2

Erin spent part of her college break sewing at the Quilt Basket.  Here she is modeling an Anna Maria Study Hall Skirt.

Updates on the shop!

We have done a lot of work on the shop in the past week.  Allan and Sue were photographed while they worked... Stop by to check out the renovations!

Last week a whole bus of quilters visited the shop on their way to the NSQG Somers Quilt Show!  You can see some of the best pictures below!

Allan prepares to greet the bus.
Allan stopped the traffic on Route 376 so the bus could pull in to the parking lot!

I think I'm coming down with something!

Solids, Shows, and Seagulls

This quilt was made using solids this week!  Are we giving you more ideas for our Quilt Basket Challenge?  The book we used to make this quilt is Modern Minimal.

The NSQG Somers Quilt Show was this weekend.  A couple times I thought I was taking pictures of our booth, but I accidentally took videos instead!

Next week we will put up pictures (definitely pictures this time, not videos!) of a bus of people that stopped by the Quilt Basket on their way to the show!

The Dorrian Joke of the Week:

(This is one of our favorites so far!)

Why do seagulls fly over the sea?

Because if they flew over the bay, they would be called "bay-gulls!"

Lanterns and Backpacks

This was our April Strip Club Quilt.  It was made using a Tonga Treat (Click link here) and the pattern is Prairie Grass Pattern #103 "Little Lanterns" (Click link here)  The quilt is made by sewing 2 1/2" strips on diagonals.

We often wonder what to do with stitch-offs from practicing on our quilting machine.  The fabric and batting usually just get thrown away.  This week; however, we found a use for it.  My nephew was going hiking, so we wrapped part of his backpack in the soft stitch-off to make it more comfortable.  There's just fabric everywhere in our family!

The Dorrian Joke of the Week:

Why did the math book have a headache?
Because it had too many problems!
