Row by Row and New Classes!

Are you familiar with the Row By Row Experience? If not, please click HERE to view the official website with a description, list of participating shops, and prize details.  This is a really fun excuse to get out to see other local or semi-local shops in your area!  If you are even more of a traveler, you can visit different shops that are participating throughout the United States and even Canada!

Here is our Row for this year's theme "Home Sweet Home." We decided to turn our row into a pillow, but the pattern has an option to just make a regular row, or to make the pillow.

When we heard the theme for this year's rows, we tried to think about what "Home Sweet Home" means to us.  We decided to include images of three holidays that people come home for, each peeking out of the window of a house.  We used a pilgrim's hat for Thanksgiving, a tree for Christmas, and a bunny for Easter.

We finished our Summer 2016 class schedule. We have a wide variety of classes for beginners, kids, and more advanced quilters.  Please let us know if you are interested in signing up.

We are back and we are busy!

It has been awhile since I have blogged, but I am back!  I know my sister-in-law is going to be happy to hear this good news!

We have had so many fun things happening around here.

My mom, Cathy, and I have been very busy designing new CUTIE Collections Patterns. We are also excited that we are now selling these patterns to other quilt shops throughout the United States to sell at their stores.  If you know a shop that may be interested, please let them know all about our CUTIES!

Quilt Basket has become Home of the CUTIES, and we specialize in Building Quilts one CUTIE at a Time!!

Here are a few of our newest Patterns:

We now have 35 different patterns, all starting with 16 Fat Eighths.  All of our patterns are available on our website.  Click HERE to view our CUTIE Patterns.  Click HERE to view our Gallery.
We would love to see any completed CUTIE Quilts, so please email us your photos to add to our Gallery.

We have been getting in quite a bit of new fabrics recently, and believe it or not Christmas 2016 fabrics are arrriving!

We are excited to announce we now carry DecoBob prewound bobbins in size M and Konfetti Cones.  These are currently available in-store, but will be avaialble for purchase on our website soon.

As always, Carter continues to be a big help around here.  Here is a photo of him helping to clean up after a T-shirt class.

I can't believe he turned 3 on May 21st!! For those of you that have followed his birthday parties in the past, I did reuse his Birthday Banner, Chair Cover and tableclothes.  However, this year I added a Dinosaur table cloth and made special party hats for all of the kids that attended.  I even made one in a  smaller version for Carter's favorite little buddy "Kitty Cat"

Finally, today my husband and I celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary!  That went by so fast...Carter is looking forward to hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa tonight so we can go out for a nice dinner.

I hope you have a wonderful week, and I already have so many new things to discuss next week!

Thank you!

Christmas Gift Ideas!!

Christmas is coming and I am trying to come up with as many gift ideas as I can.

Carter has quite a few quilts, so I decided to do a few other fun things. First I made a laundry basket/toy bin and a garbage can for him. I used the Stacking Pop-Ups Pattern. Carter was a Minon for Halloween so I thought it appropriate to use these fabrics. I used the extra large ring for the toy bin and the large size for the garbage can.  They came out perfect and will not only help keep us a little organized but also add a character to his room.  The Refill Rings are also available in Medium or all 3 sizes in 1 Package!

I thought it might be fun to plan an indoor "camping" night in our family room in the upcoming months.  So of course Carter needs a sleeping bag of his own. Quite a few years ago, our friend Sue Goth designed the Childrens Sleeping Bag Pattern for the Quilt Basket.  I took this pattern and created it again using the Free Spirit Moon Shine Fabric Collection by Tula Pink.  The little pillow with pockets for his favorite stuffed animals is just adorable!!

My nephew Jeffrey was born last Januray 1st, so this will be his first Christmas.  All of the grandkids will be at my parents house together this year and everyone has a stocking but Jeffrey.  So, I decided to make him one using the Thimble Blossoms Merry Stocking Pattern and add a little Deco Foil to make it extra special.
This foil is a lot of fun to do and can be used for so many different projects.  We made a tablerunner, stockings and ornaments to start but are coming up with different ideas to use throughout the year.

Finally, we just got in the May Chappell Clutched Pattern. Elaine made the first sample for the shop using the Free Spirit Eden Fabric Collection by Tula Pink.  It came out so great that my mom has been making these in mass production out of all different fabrics for Christmas gifts.

I will continue to try to come up with different ideas this week, and will share them with you soon!  These quick and easy yet attractive and original gift ideas are perfect for everyone on your list!

Oh and don't forget about the Michael Miller Color Me Fabrics for all the kids on your list!!

Have a great week!

Quilt Market 2015

Last week my parents and I flew out to Houston for Quilt Market.  This was the first time we were a vendor at Quilt Market to release our Cutie Collections Patterns and our new Cutie Collections Block of the Month.

We arrived on Thursday and spent the evening with my Aunt and Uncle who live nearby.  We haven't seen them since my wedding in 2011.  We had a great time catching up and went back to the hotel with 8 boxes, which we had shipped to them from New York.

Friday morning I taught my first Schoolhouse.  I was happily surprised that there was barely even standing room in the back!  Everyone loved hearing all about our Cutie Collections Patterns and seeing the brand new Block of the Month.

As excited as I was to have the opportunity to do this talk, I was glad it was over and was a success.  Then it was time to set up our booth.  It came out beautiful with 17 of our Cutie Quilts hanging and the 2 Samplers (Block of the Months).

That evening we had a chance to have dinner with the rest of my relatives who live locally.  I love that even though we don't get to see each other very often, we immediately start chatting, laughing and end up having a fantastic time!!  I cannot wait to see them all again soon! (Yes I may be the shortest one in my family!!)

The next few days were filled with Quilt Market activities.  Meeting with other vendors, the 40th Anniversary Dinner with Moda and manning our vendor booth.  Thank you to everyone who came out to see us.  I was so happy to see how excited everyone was to learn about our product!!

The last few minutes of  Market, I was pleasantly surprised to see Tula Pink stop by our booth to see the Jack's Star Cutie Collections Quilt Pattern designed by Debby Brown!!

While we were in Houston, Carter was back home spending a couple of days with his friend Grady and a nice long weekend with his daddy.  When I got home, he couldn't stop talking about all of the fun things he did.  These include going to the park, getting a hay delivery for our goats, helping daddy get ready for our local towns dump day and so much more!

This week's QBF is a 20 percent discount off the Moda True Luck Collection.  Enter code TRUELUCK20 to obtain the discount.  Offer valid 10/30 through 11/3/15

If you are in the area, remember we have our Monthly Cutie Club meeting tomorrow!  Come in from 10-11AM for a 1 hour demo on our newest Cutie Pattern.  Class fee $5 and includes a 1 hour demo and the Cutie Pattern discussed.  We hope to see you there!

Have a great weekend!!

Machine Quilting Retreat and Delicious Food!!

Hi Everyone!!

We had a fantastic weekend!  Debby Brown taught our annual Fall Machine Quilting Retreat. We had 14 participants and everyone really enjoyed themselves!  Since our shop here in Pawling is smaller than our old shop in Wappinger Falls, we rented out the Mizzentop School and it was perfect!

Saturday was a full day of machine quilting and teaching AND breakfast, lunch and dinner catered by Brian, a friend of mine who happens to be a culinary graduate!

Between lunch and dinner we had some cheese and crackers and everyone came over to the shop to see what's new and peruse the HandiQuilter wall of fun!

After dinner, while everyone was enjoying their cupcakes as dessert, we had a little show and tell.

Sunday was another fun filled day of great food, company and demonstrations.  On Sunday the class brought in quilts from home that were yet to be quilted to discuss what quilting designs they may want to quilt on them.  One of these was a Cutie Collections Pattern Squared Away done out of the Moda Modern Neutrals Collection.  I love seeing our Cutie Quilts out of different lines of fabric!!

We have been receiving quite a few emails from everyone who attended telling us what a great time they had.  We hope to see them all very soon and cannot wait to see what they quilt up next!

Be sure to check our newsletter next September to see when the Quilting Retreat will be next October!!

If you are looking for a great caterer- be sure to check out Brian.  His food is incredible!

We are headed to Quilt Market in Houston on Thursday - I cannot wait to share all the fun with you next week!

Classes, Pumpkin Picking and the Trevor Zoo!!

Columbus Day Weekend was filled with a lot of different activities for the Quilt Basket and for Carter! Sunday my parents had a wonderful time running our booth at the Dutchess Heritage Quilt Show in Poughkeepsie.  While they were there, I ran our final Technique of the Month Class of 2015 with Jackie Kunkel (certified Judy Neimeyer instructor) at the Mizzentop School in Pawling.  We have spent the last 9 months watching the students work on their quilts, every one is so unique and beautiful.  Thank you to everyone who attended this class, we had a lot of fun!!

We will have another class starting in March with Jackie Kunkel.  This will be a 3 month (1 session a month) class covering the Prairie Star.  More details to come in my winter Newsletter. This is a great class learning more Judy Neimeyer paper piecing techniques.  We currently have a sample in our store- stop by to see the completed quilt!

While all of these Quilt Basket events were happening, Carter was invited to go pumpkin picking with a few friends of ours.  He had a great time and brought home an adorable pumpkin.  Thank you to my friends for spending the day with him.  He cannot stop talking about the tractor hay ride!!

We also had a wonderful time with our friend Grady and  his Grandma Sue Sue at the Trevor Zoo in Millbrook this weekend.  The weather was perfect for a walk around the zoo! We couldn't resist this photo of the boys holding hands while running around to see all of the fun animals! If you are local, this is a great place to visit for kids and adults.

Yesterday we were able to make it to the Beekman Rec in between rain showers so Grady and Carter could run off some energy.  These boys are best friends and I love watching them play together.  Hopefully, the weather will continue to be nice so we can squeeze in a few more outdoor playdates!!

I have a new Cutie Collections Quilt on my design board- I'd better get working on it so I can reveal it to you soon!!

Have a great week!
