Up on the Rooftop

No, that doesn't mean the staff of QB are up on the roof throwing empty bobbin spools at passing cars! It means Sue has once again worked her magic and the store is transforming into a Winter Wonderland. Our theme this year for our Holiday Open House is Up on the Rooftop.

Our Holiday Open House begins Friday 12/2 and goes through Sunday 12/4. Cathy has the food ordered, Allan is polishing up the Janome's and Handi Quilters, Raffles of $100, $50, and $25 are being prepped, PLUS HQ demo's are scheduled for the weekend. And that's not all - you can save 25% off all fabric cut from the bolt; 25% off all books and notions; special pricing on Janome and HQ systems; Blue Light Specials and much more!

We will have our Glacier Star students displaying their gorgeous Glacier Star creations.

A little bragging - here is the cover of the latest Fabric Trends (now Quilt Trends) magazine. That is our All Dressed Up Duvet in Joel Dewberrys Avairy II fabrics.
We look forward to seeing you this Friday!

Thanksgiving at the Quilt Basket

If the only prayer you said in your whole life was, "thank you," that would suffice.
~Meister Eckhart

We are so thankful for so much this year; new beginnings, peaceful endings and everyday life in between. We will be closed on 11/24 to celebrate with our families, but will be open regular hours 10-5 on Friday. In the spirit of Black Friday, save 10% off any fabric cut from the bolt on 11/25. Just mention you saw it in the blog and the savings is yours!

Our Holiday Open House is 12/2-12/4, be sure to mark your calendars. You can get last minute gift ideas, special pricing on demo machines, savings on fabrics, food to enjoy and much, much more. PLUS you can enjoy Sue's decorating for this year's theme - Up on the Rooftop.
We are VERY EXCITED to announce that Sue's design - All Dressed Up - has been chosen for the cover of Quilt Trends December magazine. The magazine will be out in two weeks. This is the first time we are on the cover - whoo hoo!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

39 Days and Counting...

You might be wondering what is in 39 days - Is it the newest Twilight Saga release? No. Could it be Kim Kardashians divorce will be final? No. Cathy finally throws out Allan's balance walking shoes? Nope.

39 days from today is Christmas. Incredibly another year is coming to an end... BUT NOT YET! There is still time to finish your projects. We can help! Need finishing fabric? We go it. Need some ideas? We got tons. Looking for the perfect gift? Who doesn't love an assortment of threads?

So don't panic. We can help you through this holiday season. You got this! Come on, it only takes 28 days to become a wine expert - you have 39 days!!
Our Holiday Open House will be the weekend of 12/4.

And now not to get too ahead of ourselves, we know that Thanksgiving comes first so we shall leave you with this truth by Erma Bombeck - What we're really talking about is a wonderful day set aside on the fourth Thursday of November when no one diets.  I mean, why else would they call it Thanksgiving?  ~Erma Bombeck

And the Winners Are....

We promised we would get back to quilts this week and we are!  Granted the new grandbaby is still a hot topic and we laugh about how our grandparents considered 'facetime' actually being with the family instead of using a smartphone.

In early October the Dutchess Heritage Quilt Show crowned many winners. We are thrilled to say that many of the winners were HQ system owners and our customers! We have a few pictures here, but to see all the winners click here. We know we missed some customers so please post your quilts in the comments section.

Call Me Crazy by Liz Doyle Quilted by Debbie Higgins

Big Sky by Pat Comerford, Quilted by Dianne Durr

We would love to see your winning quilts - please post them here or send them to us at orders@ quiltbasket.com

Wife, Mother, Business Owner, GRANDMOTHER

What children need most are the essentials that grandparents provide in abundance.  They give unconditional love, kindness, patience, humor, comfort, lessons in life.  And, most importantly, cookies.  ~Rudolph Giuliani

Cathy and Allan became grandparents this past week! A beautiful 8 lb 4 oz healthy girl was born to Aric and Jennifer, instantly turning Cathy and Allan to mush. The smiles around here are HUGE. Cathy is SO giddy that she is offering ANYTHING PINK in store 18.4% OFF!! In store only, has to have pink in it and for fabrics has to be a yard or more, good through the end of November. Just mention its a girl.

We'll get back on track next week - this week it is all about baby toes, baby clothes and of course baby quilts. Oh and Allan crowing about the fact that her going home outfit was the ducky one he bought!

No cowboy was ever faster on the draw than a grandparent pulling a baby picture out of a wallet.  ~Author Unknown
