Quilt Shows, Classes, Fabric Sales and Cuties!!

I apologize for being a day late on my blog this week.  We have been busy getting ready for the Northern Quilts Guild Quilt Show in Somers, NY.  We always look forward to this show at Kennedy Catholic High school and were sad to hear this show will be moved to a different location next year. If you are in the area please stop by and see our booth.  We have our Cutie Quilts hanging and lots of Cutie Packs to choose from.  We also have a new "Chubbie Box" Collection containing 16 Fat Quarters.

Three new Cutie Patterns have been added to our website this week including Tillie, Boxed In and Dresden Daisy.  Of course we also have a few new ones in the works.  The one below is called "Santa Clara." The pattern should be completed and available in the next couple of weeks.  This pattern used the Free Spirit Sketchbook Collection - we just love how it came out!!

Projects and sales!

Happy Happy Friday!!  I hope everyone had a fabulous week!

Carter came down with a cold over the weekend which meant Monday and Tuesday we stayed in.  Long naps meant I was able to work on some of my unfinished projects!  I started with my Forest Abstractions Quilt and it came out great.  I was so excited that yesterday I spent the majority of my day machine quilting it.  The disappointment came around 5:30 last night when I realized it wasn't coming out exactly as I had planned.  This afternoon I will be taking all of my quilting out so I can start over again tomorrow.  I was of course sad but I'm sure we have all had the moment when we realized we would rather do it right then be disappointed in the final project, especially after putting so much time into the quilt itself.  This quilt is a block of the month I have been teaching and plan on having this again for our next session.  Be sure to check out our newsletter the end of April to see the classes we have scheduled.

Forest Abstractions

On Tuesday afternoon Carter went down for another nice long nap and I worked on my stars for the Loco for Lemoyne Quilt.  Once again I was really excited at how nice these came out.  This will also be a class I will be teaching in the near future.  Here is a glance at when I have finished so far.  I will be sure to share the quilt with you once I have completed it.

I was apparently not the only one in my family catching up on projects this week.  When I came into work Wednesday morning, I was pleasantly surprised to see my mom, Cathy, finished her Judy Niemeyer Fire Island Hosta Quilt.  This quilt is so beautiful!!  I cannot wait to see it once it is quilted!  This Pattern is available on our website

Carter must be feeling better today because he managed to climb up on bolts of fabrics so he could pick up the phone and try to call his Grandpa!

Fabric, Panels and Quiet Fun!

Happy Friday!!!

I am sitting down in the office of the Quilt Basket to write this blog and it is eerily quiet.  I can actually think clearly and have time to write it down without interruption!  This is thanks to my parents for taking Carter for the afternoon!  We are excited that my niece, Nora, and my nephew, Alton, came to visit for the weekend.  My mom, Cathy, did come in this morning to teach her class but then left with Carter to have a play-date at home.  It is amazing how much my Aunt Anne and I can get done without a toddler undoing everything we just did! :-)

We did receive a couple new lines of fabric in this week.  Fourth of July is right around the corner and we received the Northcott Land of the Free fabric line.  This line has a fabulous Panel that would be great bordered and hung on a front door!  I certainly plan to put one together for my house before July 4th!  Believe it or not we also started receiving Halloween fabric!  I know it seems early, but this line from Free Spirit, Happy Halloween is very cute!

This week's Quilt Blast Friday Sale (QBF) is all about Panels!!  Enter code PANELS25 to obtain a 25 percent discount off all panels!!  This sale is in store or online.  Offer valid 4/10-4/14/15 (The new July 4th panel above is included!)

We are working on our Newsletter of fun new classes we have coming up.  I hope to have this posted on our website by the end of April.  You can sign up for our emails on our website if you would like to receive emails regarding classes and of course the QBF!

We will have one saturday morning a month dedicated to a Cutie Class, the Forest Abstractions Block of the Month again, a kids pillowcase class, a couple of Longarm Quilting Classes with Debby Brown, and many others!  Here is a sneak peak at the Gravity Block of the Month that we are currently scheduling.

Our Newest Cutie Pattern is in the works! Keep your eye our for this pattern on our website.

Cuties, Fabric Sale, and Autism Month

We had so much fun last weekend at the Empire Quilt Show in NYC! The Cutie Packs and Patterns were a hit!  We are currently working on a few new ones that I cannot wait to share with you.  My newest Cutie Pattern is "Tillie" and should be available soon.  I chose to use the Free Spirit Rustic Blush as my inspiration for this pattern. We have already started cutting up our newest lines and the existing ones to get ready for the Somers Show at JFK Catholic High School in May.

A couple new lines of fabric came in this week including Northcott Artisan Spirit and Hoffman Bali Chop
I just LOVE all of these new fabrics and my little creative mind cannot keep up!!!!

 Northcott Artisan Spirit

 Hoffman Bali Chop

This week our QBF Sale is FREE SHIPPING!! (in the continental USA)  Enter Code BUNNY to obtain the discount.  Offer Valid 4/3-4/7/15.  To make this deal a little sweeter, I just added a lot of new fabrics to our Clearance Section of the website.  These fabrics online are just $5.00 per yard!!

April is Autism Awareness Month!!!  This is a cause near and dear to my heart.  My husband and I are close friends with a couple who has 2 little boys with autism.  We are always involved in fundraising for this cause.  For the month of April a portion of all purchases from Jamberry will go to Autism Speaks, as well as to the walk.  Jamberry nails are heat activated nail wraps that are non toxic, latex free, made in the USA, have no dry time and last 2 weeks!!

If you are interested in donating to the walk, please visit www.AutismWalkHV.org.  Please choose to donate to Team Sean and Collin.  The money raised is used specifically in the Hudson Valley for the cause.

We are busy working on our newest patterns, cuties and ideas!! I will be sure to keep you up to date on all of our new adventures!!

Have a fabulous week!

Short Blog... Screaming Child

Happy Friday!!

Friday at the Quilt Basket means the newest QBF is here!  This week the Quilt Blast Friday Sale is a 10% discount on the Moda Color Me Happy Line (ONLINE ONLY).  Below is a photo of the Textured Pillow made using these fabrics.  Enter Code HAPPY10 to obtain the discount.

This weekend my parents are down at FIT in the City for a Quilt Show.  We look forward to showing everyone our cutie patterns, quilts and packs.  If you are in the area, please stop by. Once our booth is all set up I will be sure to share some photos with you on our facebook page.

This week I once again don't have many good Carter stories.  He had a cold all week and was a little under the weather.  So lots of naps and snuggles.  However, he must be starting to feel a little better today because he was back to his old self of destroying our displays throughout the store. Hopefully he will be completely back to himself next week in time to start up our Story Time at the Library again.

We received a few new lines of fabric this week including Timeless Treasures Tonga Snow Angel and Northcott Artisan Spirit.

As a reminder, Sunday is the deadline to sign up for the Judy Niemeyer Technique of the Month with Jackie Kunkel.  Space is limited, please let us know as soon as possible.

Carter just woke up from his nap, and unfortunately is not in a very good mood.  Time to end this blog and try to get a few things done so we can go home and relax!

Classes, Shows and Sales!!

Happy Spring!!

Today is officially the first day of spring!  Carter and I have been looking forward to this and were so excited.  Then I watched the weather forecast last night and realized we are getting another 4-6 inches of snow today.  Oh well, at least we know the warm weather must be right around the corner!

Spring means we are currently working on our Spring 2015 Newsletter and hope to have this posted for everyone soon on our website.  Spring also means Quilt Show Season! My parents have been away at a few quilt shows lately and are scheduled to go to the Urban Inspirations Quilt Show in New York City next week as well.  If you are in the area please stop by to see our booth and learn all about our Cuties!  All of the Cutie Quilt Samples have been traveling with them and are receiving a great response!  I guess we had better keep coming up with new patterns and rolling those fat eighths!

This week we received the Paradise in Blooms Quilt for the Judy Niemeyer Technique of the Month with Jackie Kunkel.  This class starts in May, space is still available so let us know if you are interested.  Also, if you are local, please stop by to see the quilt in person.  For more information view our Winter 2015 Newsletter.

Crazy Week!

Greetings from Pawling!
I'm sure you all missed us last week!  I apologize for not posting a blog- Carter was sick, so he had to take some days off.  Many customers were disappointed that he wasn't here to help them shop!
This week has been another crazy one.
My parents are at the Lancaster Quilt Show, and everything is always crazier when they are away.
Carter learned how to use the shredder, then how to open the shredder...
And then the vacuum stopped working, so there are still paper pieces on the floor in the office!
The internet was down for half a day, so our credit card machine didn't run for a few hours.
We have been getting in a lot of deliveries!  The shop is very busy- we cut cuties all day and roll them all night!
We will be prepared for the FIT show in the end of March.
Hope you all had a better week than I did!
Sarah
