Two Step Connect and Block of the Month Week 3

This Saturday we had our Two Step Connect, a small Shop Hop between us and Pinwheels in Croton-On-Hudson NY.  We had a lot of fun with prizes, a lollipop wreath to determine discounts, and candy bars for everyone. 

Saturday was also our third monthly meeting of our $5 Block of the Month class.  Our next $5 Block of the Month meeting is Saturday April 14th.

We are starting something new on our blog, the Dorrian Joke of the Week.

This week's joke:

A man was driving down the street with two penguins when he was pulled over by a police officer.  The officer told him, "Take those penguins to the zoo!"

The next day, the same man was driving down the same street with the same two penguins in his car when he was pulled over by the same police officer.  The officer asked him why he hadn't taken the penguins to the zoo.  The man replied, "I took them to the zoo yesterday, today I'm taking them to the movies!"

The Hunt is On!

This weekend is the Two-Step Connect Scavenger Hunt and Extravaganza! PinWheels and Quilt Basket are having a Shop-Hop weekend this Friday 3/9 and Saturday 3/10. When you visit each store you get part of the specially designed Two-Step Connect Quilt. If you participate in the Scavenger Hunt you get a prize for completing it. There will be raffles, variable discounts (from 5 to 50 percent off), CANDY and much much more!

Also on Saturday 3/10 is our $5 Block of the Month. You MUST register for this class there is very limited space.

Feathered Star Quilt

We took a traditional template quilt, simplified it to be rotary cut, and used contemporary fabrics to create it. The quilt is made up of diamonds and half square triangles.  The Feathered Star Quilt has been mentioned in earlier posts, but now you can see the easy steps to assemble it!

This Feathered Star will be used as a Christmas Tree Skirt.

The colors chosen make every Feathered Star unique!

This quilt is found in the April/ May Edition of “The Quilter Magazine.”

We have Class!

 

We have lots of classes coming up - including one this weekend with Mary Beth Krapil. There is still space but time is running out so call to reserve your spot.

Our Two Step Connect is 3/9 and 3/10. We are partnering with Pinwheels in Croton-on-Hudson to have a customer scavenger hunt, PLUS both stores have parts of a quilt pattern that was specially designed for this weekend. Get the complete pattern by visiting both stores. Fill in the scavenger hunt and receive a prize. Join us for this really fun weekend.

3/10 is our next $5 BOM class and there is VERY little space left. 

All in all we are very busy these days. New fabrics continue to arrive daily, which inspire the ladies to create amazing projects and they usually turn into classes.

Oh My Stars

We are proud to have another quilt published!. Our Feathered Star is featured in the latest Quilt Trends magazine. Cathy took a very traditional pattern and used contemporary batiks by Island Batiks. This shot does not show the star that well. We will be loading more pictures.

Babies bring out the best in everyone! Sarah has just completed this adorable Bopple Ball for her niece. You have to love the bright colors on it.

Block Heads

We are delighted with how well our $5 Blocks are being received. We had another packed house this Saturday. Thanks to Debby for sending us the pictures. At the top is a picture of Cathy's Board for Block II.
