Last week my parents and I flew out to Houston for Quilt Market. This was the first time we were a vendor at Quilt Market to release our Cutie Collections Patterns and our new Cutie Collections Block of the Month.
We arrived on Thursday and spent the evening with my Aunt and Uncle who live nearby. We haven't seen them since my wedding in 2011. We had a great time catching up and went back to the hotel with 8 boxes, which we had shipped to them from New York.
Friday morning I taught my first Schoolhouse. I was happily surprised that there was barely even standing room in the back! Everyone loved hearing all about our Cutie Collections Patterns and seeing the brand new Block of the Month.
As excited as I was to have the opportunity to do this talk, I was glad it was over and was a success. Then it was time to set up our booth. It came out beautiful with 17 of our Cutie Quilts hanging and the 2 Samplers (Block of the Months).
That evening we had a chance to have dinner with the rest of my relatives who live locally. I love that even though we don't get to see each other very often, we immediately start chatting, laughing and end up having a fantastic time!! I cannot wait to see them all again soon! (Yes I may be the shortest one in my family!!)
The next few days were filled with Quilt Market activities. Meeting with other vendors, the 40th Anniversary Dinner with Moda and manning our vendor booth. Thank you to everyone who came out to see us. I was so happy to see how excited everyone was to learn about our product!!
The last few minutes of Market, I was pleasantly surprised to see Tula Pink stop by our booth to see the Jack's Star Cutie Collections Quilt Pattern designed by Debby Brown!!
While we were in Houston, Carter was back home spending a couple of days with his friend Grady and a nice long weekend with his daddy. When I got home, he couldn't stop talking about all of the fun things he did. These include going to the park, getting a hay delivery for our goats, helping daddy get ready for our local towns dump day and so much more!
This week's QBF is a 20 percent discount off the Moda True Luck Collection. Enter code TRUELUCK20 to obtain the discount. Offer valid 10/30 through 11/3/15
If you are in the area, remember we have our Monthly Cutie Club meeting tomorrow! Come in from 10-11AM for a 1 hour demo on our newest Cutie Pattern. Class fee $5 and includes a 1 hour demo and the Cutie Pattern discussed. We hope to see you there!
Have a great weekend!!

Machine Quilting Retreat and Delicious Food!!
Hi Everyone!!
We had a fantastic weekend! Debby Brown taught our annual Fall Machine Quilting Retreat. We had 14 participants and everyone really enjoyed themselves! Since our shop here in Pawling is smaller than our old shop in Wappinger Falls, we rented out the Mizzentop School and it was perfect!
Saturday was a full day of machine quilting and teaching AND breakfast, lunch and dinner catered by Brian, a friend of mine who happens to be a culinary graduate!
Between lunch and dinner we had some cheese and crackers and everyone came over to the shop to see what's new and peruse the HandiQuilter wall of fun!
After dinner, while everyone was enjoying their cupcakes as dessert, we had a little show and tell.
Sunday was another fun filled day of great food, company and demonstrations. On Sunday the class brought in quilts from home that were yet to be quilted to discuss what quilting designs they may want to quilt on them. One of these was a Cutie Collections Pattern Squared Away done out of the Moda Modern Neutrals Collection. I love seeing our Cutie Quilts out of different lines of fabric!!
We have been receiving quite a few emails from everyone who attended telling us what a great time they had. We hope to see them all very soon and cannot wait to see what they quilt up next!
Be sure to check our newsletter next September to see when the Quilting Retreat will be next October!!
If you are looking for a great caterer- be sure to check out Brian. His food is incredible!
We are headed to Quilt Market in Houston on Thursday - I cannot wait to share all the fun with you next week!

Classes, Pumpkin Picking and the Trevor Zoo!!
Columbus Day Weekend was filled with a lot of different activities for the Quilt Basket and for Carter! Sunday my parents had a wonderful time running our booth at the Dutchess Heritage Quilt Show in Poughkeepsie. While they were there, I ran our final Technique of the Month Class of 2015 with Jackie Kunkel (certified Judy Neimeyer instructor) at the Mizzentop School in Pawling. We have spent the last 9 months watching the students work on their quilts, every one is so unique and beautiful. Thank you to everyone who attended this class, we had a lot of fun!!
We will have another class starting in March with Jackie Kunkel. This will be a 3 month (1 session a month) class covering the Prairie Star. More details to come in my winter Newsletter. This is a great class learning more Judy Neimeyer paper piecing techniques. We currently have a sample in our store- stop by to see the completed quilt!
While all of these Quilt Basket events were happening, Carter was invited to go pumpkin picking with a few friends of ours. He had a great time and brought home an adorable pumpkin. Thank you to my friends for spending the day with him. He cannot stop talking about the tractor hay ride!!
We also had a wonderful time with our friend Grady and his Grandma Sue Sue at the Trevor Zoo in Millbrook this weekend. The weather was perfect for a walk around the zoo! We couldn't resist this photo of the boys holding hands while running around to see all of the fun animals! If you are local, this is a great place to visit for kids and adults.
Yesterday we were able to make it to the Beekman Rec in between rain showers so Grady and Carter could run off some energy. These boys are best friends and I love watching them play together. Hopefully, the weather will continue to be nice so we can squeeze in a few more outdoor playdates!!
I have a new Cutie Collections Quilt on my design board- I'd better get working on it so I can reveal it to you soon!!
Have a great week!

Quilt Shows, apple picking and Indoor fun!
We had a wonderful time at the Dutchess Heritage Quilt show at Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie. It was great to see everyone who stopped by to see us!
With the Fall season upon us we have had some beautiful days as well as some cold nasty days. Of course when it's nice out I am bringing Carter to as many outdoor activities as I can before winter approaches. Last week we went with our playgroup to Meadowbrook Farm in Wappinger Falls to pick some apples. It was a warm day and the kids had a blast! I think Carter's favorite part was the fresh apple cider and homemade doughnut after picking!
Unfortunately we have also had some cold raining days, but thanks to grandma we had a new fun activity!! We just got in the new Michael Miller Color Me fabric Christmas Candy fabric. Carter had a great time coloring in the trains. I chose to use washable markers this time so we can turn it into a placemat and he can color it again and again. These fabrics would make great Christmas gifts for all the kids in your family! Pillowcases, placemats, backpacks.... the options are endless!
We have a lot of fun activities coming up soon. I also have quite a few secret projects that I cannot wait to share with you!

Our friend Kavanaugh!!
Greetings from Pawling!
Our friend Kavanaugh stopped by yesterday to say goodbye to Carter. Kavanaugh was in training to become a guide dog. After 16 months of training and spending time with our Deacon John and his wife, today Kavanaugh was going back to the training center. He will be tested tomorrow and as much as we will miss him, we wish him lots of luck and a good home to someone in need.
For the last year, Deacon John has been nice enough to come to Pawling and visit us at the shop. Not only was this great training for Kavanaugh, but also fun for Carter. Carter's favorite part was giving Kavanaugh extra treats! Carter hopes Deacon John gets another puppy soon!!
Carter saying good luck to Kavanaugh
We are very excited that the new True Colors Collection arrived last week! These fabrics blend great with the Tula Pink Eden Collection as well as the Joel Dewberry Atrium Collection. We received the Atrium Collection in both colorways!!
This week's QBF sale is a 25 percent discount off all Dear Stella Fabrics. Enter code DEARSTELLA25 to obtain the discount. Offer valid 10/9 through 10/13/15
